Random thought: it's funny that a lot of the icons in the Maemopad toolbar use as metaphor for the action something that's obsolete/no one uses anymore. Floppies? An actual clipboard? An actual Folder? :)
the stock icon for GNOME these days has a HDD instead of a floppy, and that will be obsolete too RSN. We should probably just stop using technology representations in the images.
Sure, as a user I'm blind to those icons but I will pay more attention to see what metaphors are being used actually in the Fremantle applications. Thanks!
With the assistance of GPS, build a database of approximate locations of cell towers and wifi access points based on signal strength. The air is full of useful radio signals. Yes, the idea is ambitious, but with a large enough user base it could give

That would be alpha3 I guess? Or is this "the real, this time we really mean it"-alpha?

@tko I think it's fair to call it Maemo 5 Alpha SDK, since it has the API complete and it is possible to develop and application with it.

@xan it's the very same old Maemopad code, just recompiled for Fremantle.

@qgil: sure, wasn't directed specifically towards maemopad. Just realized the world advances much more quickly than our metaphors.

Suggestion: make the images a link to the full size image file.

I'm still disappointed about the GPS-centric approach to location Maemo seems to be taking in Fremantle. What about if you're indoors?
That is why we developed GeoClue after all...

unprecedented accuracy for non-gps devices.

@qgil liblocation only seems to have access to GPS data. Does A-GPS now have an ability to gather data from other sources? Plugin or providers?

I'm sorry but this is beyond my knowledge. If you post the questions to maemo-developers then it is easier to get answers

@qgil, there is some hope to see the python-* packages in the final devices? Or are they only for the SDK?
11 months, 2 weeks ago by yerga
@yerga - Python support will be provided by PyMaemo as usual.

@qgil and @yerga: this comment answers my question on pymaemo and maemo-developers mailing list :-)
