I love Epiphany, but if it keeps crashing like this I will consider another browser by January 6th.

if I'd have to guess, I'd assume you'rre on 64-bit arch running 32-bit flash with nspluginwrapper.

Huh? This is a Thinkpad and I think it runs plain 32-bit (Why "About Ubuntu" doesn't tell me what I have actually installed?). No Flash is involved as far as I'm aware of (they embedded it so well in web pages these days).

The use case is always the same: many tabs open, closing one of them crashes cleanly the browser. Recovery works without issues, but it's still annoying. Once a day or so.

well, for me Epiphany is stable as a rock. The only reason for it to crash was because I run 64-bit ('uname -m' in console) and until recently the only way to get Adobe Flash to work was to run 32-bit one through the "Netscape Plugin Wrapper", which in turn isn't the most stable contraption in the world.

Now there's 64-bit flash (and for once, the Linux community gets something first before Mac users or Windows users, Woooo!) so that nspluginwrapper isn't a problem anymore.

If you use flash on linux you'll have a not very pleasant surprise when you switch browsers to avoid crashers. That is all :]

@xan: which is the reason I was wondering if the problem is flash ;-)

@myrtti: Right. It still crashed left and right to me with no 64->32 bit voodoo though, I use a 32bit distro (and I checked firefox to see if there was any difference and there wasn't any for me). I use swfdec now and I get a lot less crashes...

yeah, I changed to swfdec on 64-bit myself for the same reason - lots less crashing. Now I'm running the 64-bit flash, and there's no crashing either.

Eben if you run 64bit version, you should not have problem, since Adobe has released the 64bit version of Flash plugin.

As I say, I don't think Flash is involved in this but I will pay more attention from now on.

Well, if you get one crash per day you could also send us the backtraces, that way we'll see if it's flash or something else that's crashing ephy for you...
