Arn't ðey already saturated by Finnish by way of ðeir environment? I mean immersion into Finnish speaking groups is pretty much a definit possibility starting from Kindergarten onwards.

+1 to Finnish day care. And you could also try libraries with educating CD-ROM games (I'm assuming you have Windows to install them to). If you can't find anything from the library, I can ask my sister if she's willing to sell some of her kids old ones, they are too old for those games already.

Quimi is almost 4 and he has been going to regular Päiväkoti half day for more than a year. I'm sure this gives him the basics but the rest of the time he barely gets any Finnish since home, friends and other relatives bring a different mix of languages: German, Catalan, Spanish, English.

I don't want to sit them already in front of a PC for something interactive (even less in front of a Windows PC) :P

DVDs with short tales with basic language is what would work better, I think. They are helping them getting a good level of their mother tongues. I'm not being that lucky finding appropriate stuff for their age in Finnish, though.

    Muumilaakson tarinat? Disney movies?

Or then just boldly ask day care people what tv-shows they'd recommend? Or library assistants. I'm trying to think what my niece and nephew watched when they came to Finland...

Give a try to Pikku Kakkonen http://yle.fi/pikkukakkonen/. Click on "Katsele" and you'll find a selection of programs to watch online. Mauro's and Selma's favorites are "Mansikkala", "Koiramäkki" and "Hertta".

TV, we should first get that digital box (our TV now is a pure DVD player). Pay also the tax only to get some children programs for the kids sounds a bit expensiv but if it needs to...

YLE streaming online, yes someone recommended this today and looks good! Is there a way to have that in DVD instead of streamed? I'm a bit reluctant putting the children in front of a computer at their age (plus they press keys and buttons all the time).

Disney, Bob The Builder and stuff... sure but I'd like to investigate something local first. Moomins were the obvious option and I though there would be alternatives... This is the point were you see me now. :)

It's getting shamefully complicated so I guess I'll just grab some Moomins to start with.

I'm having really bad luck though. This morning we picked "Nils Holgerssonin ihmeellinen matka" and it happened to be in Swedish with Finnish subtitles, absolutely useless for the purpose... :)

library will have DVD's with non-Disney content, lots of stuff that can't be found even in YLEshop...

    But with a quick glance even YLEshop has lots: - http://www.yle.fi/java/yleshop/PublishedService?file=page&pageID=9&itemcode=750050 - http://www.yle.fi/java/yleshop/PublishedService?file=page&pageID=9&itemcode=750042 - http://www.yle.fi/java/yleshop/PublishedService?file=page&pageID=9&itemcode=750032 - http://www.yle.fi/java/yleshop/PublishedService?file=page&pageID=9&itemcode=750036 - http://www.yle.fi/java/yleshop/PublishedService?file=page&pageID=9&itemcode=750030 - http://www.yle.fi/java/yleshop/PublishedService?file=page&pageID=9&itemcode=750039 - http://www.yle.fi/java/yleshop/PublishedService?file=page&pageID=9&itemcode=750033 - http://www.yle.fi/java/yleshop/PublishedService?file=page&pageID=9&itemcode=750041 - http://www.yle.fi/java/yleshop/PublishedService?file=page&pageID=9&itemcode=700227 - http://www.yle.fi/java/yleshop/PublishedService?file=page&pageID=9&itemcode=750040 - http://www.yle.fi/java/yleshop/PublishedService?file=page&pageID=9&itemcode=750038 - http://www.yle.fi/java/yleshop/PublishedService?file=page&pageID=9&itemcode=750029 - http://www.yle.fi/java/yleshop/PublishedService?file=page&pageID=9&itemcode=750059 - http://www.yle.fi/java/yleshop/PublishedService?file=page&pageID=9&itemcode=750031 also, all Moomins, Rölli-peikko's and Maikki's.

I'd really go to the library as a first thing, they'll probably have most of these already, and would also be able to search for more.
